What President Obama asked me to tell you!
Greetings friend!
I wanted to share some insights from a wonderful event I attended with President Barack Obama – yes, he was there in the flesh. It was a fundraiser that was held by John & Sandi Thompson, ( John is Chairman of the Board for Symantec Software – below).
The event included some real movers and shakers. People like Congressman Mike Honda (picture below to left), The Software Architect for the iPhone (hired by Steve Jobs) Bruce Hornsby (Bruce Hornsby and the Range – very entertaining), Chris Cornell (Sound Garden – AWESOME!!!), and a host of other very interesting people!
However, one of the most interesting people that I had the pleasure of interacting with was a woman who was 83 years old and quite active in fund-raising for President Obama. She travels to other states to assist in fundraising for up to 5 weeks per trip! She’s a part time Psychologist in Berkley California.
Recap of President Obama’s Talk
When President Obama arrived at the event he met with a number of the people one-on-one, then spoke to the entire group. I have to tell you that my impression of the President is that he is very “Authentic”.
President Obama talked to the group for approximately 15 minutes and his words were very real, meaningful and heart felt! In a nutshell, he talked about:
- His promises, and his challenges.
- The work he’s done for the past 2 1/2 years and the fact that everything he’d set out to do wasn’t going to be accomplished overnight.
- He reminded us that when he began his campaign, that he knew the road was going to be tough – “Change is difficult”.
- That it’s going to take much more work and effort from all of us to create real change.
- He reminded us that he isn’t a “Black” President, but that he’s an AMERICAN President.
- Have you seen the list of 244 accomplishments of President Barack Obama? – http://wp.me/p1rTC4-eq
Friends the thing that struck me most about President Obama, was his authentic sense of caring, most importantly, that he is one of us! He’s not just a special interest President who is in office to see how much he can take from the country…. We’ve had enough of that. In fact, look at where a decade of corporate interest leadership has led America.
In fact, the President reminded us that this is one of the most challenging times that America has ever seen – we are on the brink of a crisis that America has never seen. This crisis was in motion well in advance of his Presidency.
Heed These Words!
At this time, internal fighting amongst Democrats and Republicans will only continue to separate us and to ensure that America will continue it’s fall. Remember, divided we fall, united we stand! This fight is going to require the combined efforts of “EVERYONE”, DEMOCRATS, CONSERVATIVES, REPUBLICANS, LIBERALS, PEACE AND FREEDOM, GREEN, TEA PARTY, CONGRESS, SENATE, CORPORATE AMERICA, MIDDLE CLASS, LOWER CLASS, UPPER CLASS, ALL AMERICANS! One of my wise friends once told me, “If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging!”. If we continue to fight amongst ourselves in the midst of this crisis, we’ll continue to dig the hole that we are already in…
BTW – if you are the type of person who likes to understand what’s REALLY going on in the world, versus getting your sound bites from our yellow journalistic news media, read a great book Bob Woodward’s, “Obama’s Wars” – http://tinyurl.com/2bqbegp. This will give you some great insight into the real villain’s in our country who are digging holes for us.
In addition, you may want to read a blog I wrote before President Obama was elected. The information was from an event I attended with Mr. David Gergen. He provided some REAL insight into the uphill crisis that whomever the President elect would be, would have to face. He also suggest that this was one of the most crucial times in our history – http://wp.me/p1rTC4-p.
This is not a Democrat or a Republican American, this is Our America! We must work together to change our fate.
